What Does an Orgasm Feel Like? 20 People Describe their Experiences

Orgasms are amazing experiences to have. During sex, an orgasm shouldn’t be an end in itself, and it’s not sexually healthy to make sex all about orgasms, but they are worth having. How would you describe your orgasms? How intense do they get?

What is an Orgasm?

An orgasm is the climax, paroxysm, or peak of sexual arousal. During an orgasm, the muscles and blood vessels of your genitals (including your anal and urethral sphincters) contract. It is accompanied by intense sensations of pleasure.

Orgasms and the resolution of the state of arousal come with a sense of sexual satisfaction for several people.

How Long Does it Take to Have an Orgasm?

On average, humans have orgasms in about four minutes during solo sex. People with penises easily have orgasms during the penetration of the vagina or anus, unlike people with vaginas. Fewer than 20% of vaginal owners experience orgasms during penetration alone; the rest require direct or indirect clitoral stimulation to experience orgasms.

For most vagina owners, penetration needs to be combined with clitoral stimulation with the tongue, fingers, or sex toys for them to experience orgasms.

What are your experiences with orgasms like?

Orgasms

For me, an orgasm begins with a buildup of pleasure in my pelvis. If you/I keep going with the stimulation, it becomes stronger and stronger. Then it moves up my spine, up to my brain, and consumes my entire being. I sort of lose consciousness at that point. I get lost in the sensations until they pass. When the pleasure subsides, I feel a sense of relief in my body. It feels like the relief of tension. Then I’d need some space to recover and I’d be good. It’s such a liberating feeling, unlike any other. Sometimes, after an orgasm, I feel sleepy, and when I go to bed, it’s usually one of the best sleeps ever.

What 20 people had to say about their experiences with orgasms:

One: “An orgasm is a tingling and shivering sensation. When it’s a great orgasm, my arms and legs go numb. I feel a little lightheaded afterwards. That’s usually the case when I receive good head because I rarely orgasm from penetrative sex. The tingling or shivering sensation starts in my groin area and spreads along my spine. Then, it’s like an electric buzz that starts spreading in waves, accompanied by muscle contractions in my stomach, back, and chest. It is a much deeper feeling and I feel spent and exhausted in a good way afterward. It is probably comparable to an intensive workout that leaves you shaking. Honestly, it is such a great feeling afterwards”

Two: “I’d describe orgasms as legs shaking. It is an uncontrollable shaking of my legs, especially my left leg. After, my entire body gets so sensitive, like so sensitive and it makes me want to sleep. That sleep hits differently”

Three: “An orgasm is a mini explosion in the penis that you get to release. I have practiced and mastered timing the release, so I am able to squirt the cum out. It’s so much fun, but it takes mastering!”

Four: “For me, an orgasm is an all-consuming, yet peaceful crescendo.”

Five: “An orgasm is refreshing, more like a mental and physical reset”

Six: “I usually feel a lot of tension in my groin area. I’m constantly tensed up because of wet dreams, waking up hard, and constant arousal. An orgasm relieves the tension for me. I’d say orgasms are lifesavers because tension leads to stress, frustration, and mental instability.”

Seven: “Have you heard the term, ‘snatch your soul?’ That’s what an orgasm feels like, especially when your partner knows what they are doing, knowing you are about to cum and putting in the work, so you can bust that nut properly. For those brief 5 seconds of intense orgasmic pleasure, I am no longer present in the moment. It feels like I am in heaven.”

Eight: “An orgasm feels like a liberating experience for me. I don’t think about anything else in that moment.”

Nine: “An orgasm makes me feel on top of the world. It’s a crazy feeling!”

Ten: “Orgasms are sensational.”

Eleven: “An orgasm is a feeling of a thousand volts but in a good way, not a burning way.”

Twelve: “Orgasms are amazing. A massive relaxation and release.”

Thirteen: “An orgasm is like driving a sports car on a highway with no ramps or potholes or police and a blunt in hand.”

Fourteen: “I want to cum every day. That’s how good it is.”

Fifteen: “An orgasm is a wave of excitement and pleasurable feeling up your whole body that lets go of any tension. It feels like an internal massage.”

Sixteen: “An orgasm is a wave of excitement and pleasurable feeling that sweeps through your whole body that lets go of any tension. It feels like an internal massage.”

Seventeen: “Orgasms are hard to describe tbh. It is one of those things that is indescribable. It is a wave of tingling sensations, and it feels even better when I edge myself for a really long time.”

Eighteen: “An orgasm feels like fireworks that start in your stomach and go all over your body.”

Nineteen: “Having an orgasm feels like floating. Everything feels warm, and it’s like my insides turn into liquid and time moves slower. The first orgasm is just the warmup. Multiple orgasms are better, and for me, the subsequent orgasms feel stronger than the first one. They are so much better.”

Twenty: “An orgasm is an out of body experience coupled with getting a heart attack in which you are stuck between life and death in a good way. In that moment, everything stops around me. It’s a mad feeling. I usually get them on the third cum while my partner is standing or riding me in the cowgirl position, at the edge of the bed. My whole body vibrates, and I feel the sweetness on the tip of my dick for about 4 hours, even a whole week after the session.”
